"...as the local municipalities do not trim their branches"

I was fired after an incident where I drove beneath low tree limbs near my destination in downtown New Haven, Connecticut. The tree limbs (sticks and leaves) were below 13'4" and therefore were low enough to where they scratched the hoods and roofs of 4 out of 5 new vehicles on the top of my truck, resulting in all four roofs and hoods needing to be repainted by the dealer, and costing the company over $5,000. I later learned that this was a common occurance in Connecticut, as the local municipalities do not trim their branches in urban areas to accomodate the height of a tractor trailer (13'6"). These low branches would be inconsequential for a typical tractor trailer with an industrial-grade metal box protecting its contents, but not to a car hauler where the brand new vehicles are exposed.
